Credits, the monetary system (at least for now) is pegged at 1/100,000 of the salary of the average person. A compromise forced out by a powerful union, it's good at hiding inflation, but bad at hiding shrinking wages. Or is this too socialist? Maybe the academics use this instead. Anyway, makes it easy to talk about money in another world like this.
