Deathclock

Created Monday 01 August 2022

His real name. He was a very early AI built with self-correcting software that adapted its corrections like one does antibobies.
And yeah, all he was orignailly programmed to do was forecast events. A very broad charter, but one built back when they really didn't know how much "constraint" ( sort of inherent morality, certain parameters or rules that are sometimes so hard-coded as to be part of how it builds its own hardware: Asimov's Robot Laws built into the bedrock) or how few initial parameters to set.
And Deathclock just so happened to hit upon a really good set of initial insights that it grew in such a compoundingly perfect way as to be among the most unique---irreplicable---AIs in existence. Debates about how good that actually makes him vary, but everyone at least agrees that he has the people who love forecasts block firmly in his corner.

He developped a peccadillo of forecasting (with greater and greater accuracy) when something he saw around him he was probably seeing for the last time. The peccadillo is incessantly telling those around him. "Bob, that is probably the last time you will ever see your nephew.

Deathclock also has a strange bug---a curese, really: He can sense with high accuracy when he has done something for the last tme. He has, in fact, the closest AIs (and Humans for that matter) ever come to some sort of prescience.
[Ha! I wrote that peice jst above 2022-12-21, just about five months after intially creating this character during a fit of thinking about AIs. This idea came back to me, but it really was just remembering without awareness. Which is funny, but funnier that it'd be that thought.]
