Weapons Platforms

Created Saturday 12 January 2019

"No. This is the weapon i prefer: a fixed-blade knife with a TK20 biphasic carbide, drop-point blade. Forever useful anywhen or where. You? Your guns?! Really!? You know you're only allowed to have them because they don't matter. You're allowed weapons as they become obsolete. You know what that says about you?"

More importantly for the stody, what does it say about future weaponry?

Which is, in my underinformed opinion (thank you, Jones), is what determines the evolution of weaponry more than the other way around. So, although I respectfuly denounce Jackson's excuse for Ogres (too good at hitting hypersonic missiles out of the air, not good enough to hit a friggin tank 4.5 km away), I do see a future role for Ogres. And wouldn've found one even if I couldn't figure out one. (Pretty twister sentence, that... : / )

Haggs

Heavy Infantry

Light Infantry

Cobalt Jinks

They are among those who drop with Ogres. They're the human marines, kitted with cobalt allow suits (well, "platforms" since they have both exo- and endoskeletonic parts) that both protect them from mass and energy weapons and augment them--mostly their movement. Riffing on Heinlein and even what's implied by Jackson, they "jink" or can move in quick bursts. Sure, jumps, but they try to stay low to the ground for cover, so it's more a bunch of jump-like dashes, or jinks.
Also called nickel poppers beucase they often rely on γ-guns as their main weapon system (they are away teams that often rely on fusion reactors in their camps---their "starheads") and γ-guns create nickel (60Ni to be exact) as a by-product.

Light Cavalry

Craft with humans on board are called "juicy" craft---or Zaftigs.
